Scrimshaw on Woolly Mammoth Ivory

Haven't done one of these in over fifteen years.  Found some woolly mammoth ivory I picked up in Alaska years ago and thought I would see if my eye sight was still good enough.  Oh how I miss my 20/20s.  Sanded the dark surface off to make a window for the art work.  The picture is drawn with a pencil then scratched with a sharp awl and the scratches filled with either India ink or acrylic painted.
Mounted it to a piece of soapstone from near Wenatchee, WA

First Guitar

Don Channel in this photo gave me my first guitar at age seven.  He likely felt sorry for me because I was home from school sick for a month with scarlet fever.
Fast forward over forty years and we played together at a farmers market in Prosser, WA.  I was able to record him doing some gospel music and did some of the instrument back up and vocals.  https://youtu.be/H2k3gnBJoHc

Aku Aku and other strange things

As man looks out from behind the stone of his creation he ponders technology of past and future.

Casca and Whitehorse

The two steamers Casca and Whitehorse traveled the Yukon River from around 1901 to 1955.  This drawing was done by Dale Brown a year or so before they were destroyed by fire in 1974 on the banks of the river at the town of Whitehorse in the Yukon.  A fire was started by someone camping out inside one of the boats which quickly spread to the other thus erasing this part of gold rush history.
